When Christ called his disciples to “follow me,” the invitation was more than just personal, it was cosmic in scope. As the women who followed Christ saw their own lives change, they discovered a Savior in whom their talents, resources, and curiosity were welcomed as members of his Kingdom team. As we respond to Christ’s call, how does the intimacy and immensity of the gospel shape our own work? How do we become leaders who live with God and for others? In this session, we’ll hear from keynote speaker Romanita Thurston, CEO of the M.J. Murdock Trust, and panelists Utibe Bassey (Dominion Energy) and Andrea Masvero (1846 Enterprises, Makari Partners, LLC).
From the joy of successful projects, to the shock of unexpected layoffs, or the stress of conflict with colleagues, every woman faces both beauty and brokenness in her work. We feel the tension of a world that has been redeemed through Christ, but is still being made new. (Rev 21:5) How does this paradox shape the way we work? And how do we hold the tension between beauty and brokenness in our own leadership? In this session spiritual director Ally Ley will offer insight for navigating these pressures and panelists Meryl Herr (DePree Center for Leadership, author: Work Hurt: Building Resilience When You’re Beat Up or Burnt Out), Dee Daniels Scriven (Colorado’s Office of New Americans), and Jeff Hoffmeyer (Denver Institute) share wisdom gained from their own career journeys.
There are few soloists in God’s Kingdom. Throughout history, God has moved through networks of followers, women and men whose lives were shaped by the relationships that formed as they responded to His call. As modern women, we long for similar connectedness in our own work, whether that comes through the input of a trusted mentor or a community of peers who champion our goals. How do we find and keep friends for our professional journey? And how do we collaborate for the good of our teams, industries, and communities? In this session organizational consultant Cari Jenkins (TOV Consulting Group) will explore the role relational networks played in Christ’s work as panelists Chandler Douglas (JSI public health consulting) and Jill Gilley (Mile High Ministries) share how intentional relationship-building has enriched their work and cities.
In the rapidly-changing world, how do we find our footing in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous situations? What perspectives and skills do we need to remain fruitful in transition? To close our day, Michaela O’Donnell, practical theologian, entrepreneur (Long Winter Media), and organizational leader (DePree Center for Leadership, Fuller Seminary), will share principles from her own leadership and recent book Life in Flux: Navigational Skills to Ground You in an Ever-Changing World.
