Peter Stitcher is an aquatic biologist, the founder and owner of Ascent Fly Fishing, and a past presenter at our Business for the Common Good event and Workshop network gatherings. At Denver Institute for Faith & Work, we believe business should be a force for human flourishing and city transformation. Peter embodies this mission by using his passion for aquatic biology and fly fishing to create dignified employment for 56 full-time fly tyers in Kenya.
We’re hosting an evening with Peter for a fly-fishing class like no other. If you’re tired of guessing which flies to use while watching other anglers catch fish, this in-depth, all-levels entomology class is for you. Whether you’re brand new to fly fishing or a seasoned angler, this class will help you dial in your fly selection and fish with confidence. Here’s what to expect during our time together:
- A 2.5-hour class exhaustively covering how to identify bugs and match the hatch with confidence using high-resolution videos and animations
- Dinner and time to connect with other anglers and faith-driven leaders across the Front Range
- An 85-slide packet of detailed notes and 10 flies tracing the life cycles of Mayflies, Caddisflies, Stoneflies, and Midges
While attending this class will certainly help you catch more fish, this evening is about more than just fishing! Fly fishing is a place of connection, community, shared life, and shared blessing. The proceeds of this class will be split between Ascent's fly tyers in Kenya and an adoption fund to help the Stitcher family bring a little girl home from India.

Aquatic biologist, and unrepentant trout geek Peter Stitcher founded Ascent Fly Fishing in 2013 with the desire to give anglers everywhere an edge on the water by combining science with the sport of fly fishing! For over a decade, Ascent has been a no-ego shop, meeting each person where they are at, and equipping them with the knowledge, gear, and freely shared fishing spots to ensure their next trip to the river will be their best one yet.
