Dale Scott Joins the Denver Institute Board of Directors

Denver Institute recently welcomed Dale Scott as a board member. We spoke with Dale about his professional background and his passion for faith and work. The conversation below has been lightly edited for length and clarity.

Denver Institute (DI): Can you give us a brief overview of your work & professional experience?

Dale Scott (DS): I worked in finance for about 12 years before transitioning into nonprofit work with Cross Purpose. There, I served as a development officer and later as the Director of Spiritual Development, where I was responsible for writing curriculum, teaching classes, and focusing on practical ways to cultivate a vibrant spiritual life. Today, I continue that work through my own nonprofit, The Virtue Institute. In addition, I serve as the senior pastor of Deep Well Church in Aurora.

DI: What has been your interaction and involvement with Denver Institute? How has Denver Institute helped you personally in your vocation?

DS: My first introduction to Denver Institute was through Business for the Common Good in 2022. It helped me in two main ways. First, it deepened my understanding of the importance of integrating my faith with my work and inspired me to pursue excellence in how I approach vocational responsibilities. Second, I greatly appreciated the relationships I built. Hearing the testimonies of others—both through networking and from the speakers—motivated me to be a more effective representative of Christ in the workplace and encouraged me to inspire others to do the same.

DI: Why do you care so much about the Denver Institute mission?

DS: I care deeply about the mission of Denver Institute because it’s a conversation we need to amplify—the integration of faith and work. Most people don’t think about this connection and often compartmentalize their faith and work separately. As a result, even really wonderful Christian people sometimes don’t fully represent their faith in their work, simply because no one has had the conversation with them about how the two are related. The Bible has much to say about work, which means God cares deeply about it. Denver Institute bridges that gap, allowing us to have these important conversations and become more effective in living out our faith in the workplace.

DI: What are you most excited about in Denver Institute’s future?

DS: I’m most excited about the future of Denver Institute for Faith and Work, particularly the annual event, Business for the Common Good. I’m also excited about the special events and opportunities for women within Denver Institute. There aren’t as many resources for women comparatively to men in this space, so I’m grateful for the events that help women grow and develop. Being part of these events has deepened my understanding of how to be more effective in my investment, mentorship, and care for the women in my organizations and church. It’s really called me to higher ground to make sure that nobody gets missed.
